Overview

  SUMMARY

This text set will cover equal rights throughout the history of the U.S. We will look at the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights movement, the Women's Suffrage movement, the Black Lives Matter movement and LGBTQIA Rights. Each sub-section of the text set will include resources for children to access, including books, videos, and maps for a full understanding of the topic. This text set will focus on how civil rights have been seen throughout history and how that understanding has affected different groups of people over time. This text set will also focus on how civil rights have changed since they were originally introduced in the constitution. This is important and relevant to all students learning the history of this country because civil rights are still a very prevalent issue today. Teaching students about various civil rights periods will give them context for how different groups of people are treated today, and how students and their classmates will belong to various groups, so they will need to know about them and their history.
